Why Choose TONFUL Cable Ties

Zero-Drilling, Rapid Installation

Time is money on the assembly line. TONFUL edge clips eliminate the need to drill mounting holes in chassis, sheet metal, or solar frames. Installers simply push the clip onto the panel edge by hand, speeding up production while preventing structural weakening and corrosion around drilled holes.

Aggressive Barb Gripping Technology

Inside every TONFUL edge clip are strategically angled metal barbs (manufactured from zinc-plated spring steel or stainless steel). Once pushed onto the panel, these barbs bite aggressively into the substrate, providing massive pull-off resistance and preventing the clip from sliding, even under severe vibration.

Complete Panel & Wire Protection

Routing wires over raw metal edges often leads to cut insulation and electrical shorts. Our edge clips act as a protective barrier, securely holding the wire bundle away from the sharp sheet metal edges, completely eliminating the risk of chafing and catastrophic electrical failures.

UV & Extreme Weather Resistance

For outdoor infrastructure like Solar PV arrays, standard plastics degrade quickly. TONFUL manufactures specialized edge clip ties using UV-stabilized Polyamide 6.6 (PA66W). They resist harsh sunlight, extreme temperature fluctuations, and moisture, guaranteeing decades of outdoor performance.

Multi-Directional Routing Flexibility

Every engineering design is unique. We manufacture edge clips in various orientations—Top Mount, Side Mount, Parallel, and Perpendicular (90-degree). This versatility ensures you can route wire harnesses exactly where you need them, maximizing space in tight engine bays or crowded electrical enclosures.

Factory-Direct Customization & Scalability

As a primary manufacturer with fully automated injection molding and assembly lines, TONFUL eliminates the middleman. We provide highly competitive OEM bulk pricing and can customize the cable tie length, tensile strength, and clip dimensions to fit your exact panel thickness requirements.

Professional Selection Guide

Step 1: Measure the Panel Thickness

The most critical factor is the thickness of the panel (sheet metal, plastic, or aluminum frame) the clip will attach to. We offer different clip sizes designed for specific ranges, such as 0.7mm to 3.0mm, or thicker configurations from 3.0mm to 6.0mm.

Step 2: Determine the Routing Direction

Decide how the wire bundle needs to run relative to the edge. Choose a Top-Mount clip if the wire should sit on top of the edge, or a Side-Mount clip if it needs to rest against the face of the panel. You must also specify if the wire runs parallel or perpendicular to the edge.

Step 3: Evaluate Environmental Conditions

Where will the equipment operate? For indoor machinery, standard PA66 is sufficient. For outdoor Solar PV installations, you must select UV-stabilized black ties. For automotive engine bays, specify our Heat-Stabilized ties (rated up to +125°C).

Step 4: Select the Tie Length and Tensile Strength

Determine the maximum diameter of the wire harness or hose you are bundling. Select a tie length that easily wraps around the bundle with room to spare, and ensure the tensile strength (e.g., 50 lbs or 120 lbs) matches the weight and stress of the cables.

Step 5: Check Anti-Corrosion Needs

If the installation is in a highly corrosive environment (like coastal marine areas or heavily salted winter roads), ask our engineering team about our Dacromet-coated spring steel clips or POM plastic clips with embedded stainless-steel barbs to prevent rust.

Step 6: Request Samples for Field Testing

Tolerances can be tight in real-world applications. We highly recommend contacting TONFUL to request free physical samples. Test the push-on force and pull-off resistance directly on your own production panels to ensure a flawless fit before bulk ordering.

Frequently Asked Questions

We have compiled some common questions from our clients. If your question isn’t included here, our customer service is always available to help. We’d love to talk with you.

Q1: Do I need any special tools to install an edge clip cable tie?

No. One of the greatest advantages of edge clips is tool-free installation. They are designed to be simply pushed onto the edge of the panel by hand. You will only need a standard cable tie tensioning and cutting tool to tighten the zip tie around the wire bundle afterward.

Q2: Can I remove and reuse an edge clip once it is installed?

While the zip tie itself must be cut to release the wires, the metal edge clip is designed for permanent installation. The internal metal barbs bite aggressively into the panel to prevent slipping. Removing the clip requires significant force and a flathead screwdriver, which may scratch the panel and damage the barbs, so reuse is not recommended.

Q3: Are these clips suitable for Solar (PV) panel aluminum frames?

Absolutely. Edge clips are the industry standard for solar PV wire management. We supply specialized UV-stabilized ties paired with corrosion-resistant clips that push perfectly onto the 1.0mm – 3.0mm lips of extruded aluminum solar frames, ensuring decades of reliable outdoor performance.

Q4: Will the metal barbs scratch the paint on my automotive panels?

To ensure maximum grip, the hardened steel barbs are designed to bite into the surface, which will penetrate paint. If scratching or rust prevention is a major concern for your application, we offer edge clips with fully encapsulated plastic housings that protect the panel surface while still providing excellent retention.

Q5: What is the difference between Top-Mount and Side-Mount clips?

A Top-Mount clip holds the cable tie and wire bundle directly above the top edge of the panel. A Side-Mount clip holds the wire bundle off to the side, resting flush against the face of the panel. Your choice depends entirely on the clearance available in your specific chassis or enclosure design.
