Volvo Trucks states that its Customer Portal provides VIN-specific repair information, while PartsASIST can locate parts using VIN and vehicle details. These official services support a VIN-first process; their public overview pages do not prove any reference group, application or supersession without an actual vehicle-specific lookup and retained result. Record VIN or chassis number, model designation, market, production date, cab type, LHD/RHD, stalk side, transmission, lighting and wiper options, cruise or retarder controls and any steering-column module information. Ask the authorized parts source for the complete service number, revision and supersession direction. “Fits FH/FM” is too broad to release a switch.
Vehicle and Hardware Match
Classify the Removed Part Before Comparing It
Photograph the complete label, stalk symbols, housing, mounting interface and connector. Separate the OE service number from supplier, engineering, casting and customer-stock numbers. Approval Record
Approve only the named sample, lot and vehicle scope. Retain VIN/chassis boundary, market, production date, LHD/RHD and stalk side, complete OE and supersession chain, label photos, mechanical dimensions, connector map, architecture, function results, test conditions, DTCs, required coding, reviewer and date. Unresolved reference families must remain Unverified, not silently promoted to a fitment claim.
Production release also needs change control.
